Time of Indecision

  • I made this photography book as the project to finish my bachelor’s degree in January 2022. It came together over a time period of 4 months and was accompanied by my bachelor’s thesis on portrait photography. I received a final grade of 1,0.

  • My bachelor’s thesis dealt with the effect that a camera has on the person it is pointed at. I analysed my own portrait photography as well as prominent examples of all time periods.

To me, the way a person reacts to being photographed, is a combination of how they see themselves and what reactions they were taught throughout the course of their lives. Often those reactions obscure and hinder the completion of a successful, authentic portrait. At the same time, the interconnectivity of these factors and reactions can be seen as the ultimate authentic portrayal of each person.

  • The final book deals with the feelings of indecision and standing-still. It shows a personal growth period in my life and conveys the return to the connection of humans and nature. There are detail shots of nature as well as shots of personalities, that helped me come to the conclusions of my thesis.
